Hello! My name is Rebecca Ganong, but my friends call me Becky. I have been teaching for 27 years. My first teaching assignment was at Judson Middle School in Longview where I taught 7th grade Life Science and coached volleyball, basketball, and track. When I left Judson, I went to Jacksonville High School where I taught sophomore Biology and directed the Jacksonville High School Cherokee Charmers drill team. Later I changed to Longview High School where I taught dance as a fine arts credit and directed the Longview Viewettes drill team. With the birth of my third son, I decided to stay at home for a year and be a mom. My next teaching assignment was on the opposite end of the spectrum. I began teaching Kindergarten and Pre-K PE at Kilgore Heights. Wow what a change! I learned much in those three years. One thing I learned is that I am better teaching in the classroom. I transferred into the second grade classroom in Kilgore at Chandler Elementary. I was then fortunate that a second grade opening was available here at White Oak. I taught second grade for five years then moved to fifth grade. I now teach Reading, Language Arts and Social Studies. I love teaching, and I enjoy putting a smile on each student’s face. MY FAMILY I married my high school sweetheart Mark. He is an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad. We have three boys Justin, Taylor, and Connor. All our children have gone to school here in White Oak. Justin a 2004 graduate who is now married and is currently serving in the Air Force. Taylor a 2008 graduate is serving in the Marine Corps. Connor is in the 11th grade. Life at our home has always been full of excitement and fun! Justin is in the Air Force and is stationed at Travis AFB in northern California and Taylor is in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton CA
